SARVA DHARMA STHAL (OUR SCHOOL TEMPLE)

Dear Georgians,

Greetings and Good Wishes.

Our School temple was one of the original buildings established in our school compound by the 10/1 Madras Presidency Regiment on April 26th 1926. It was after that the Clive Barracks was established in the 200 acres compound (including the current CMP Areas) and the basic Bangalore Cantonment was formed around this nucleus area.

The Pioneer builders of this temple named it ‘Rama Mandiram’ and basically it was a lime stone and mud structure with Mangalore tiled roof. This ancient temple has stood the onslaught of nearly 85 years and provided solace and peace to thousands of Indian soldiers and to all us Georgians from 1946.

The temple was totally in a dilapidated condition by 2006 and even the roof had caved in. Thanks to the interest of a few generous Georgians and the School Principal some how funds were collected, the roof changed and the surrounding areas basically cemented and laid with slab stones which were collected from all over the school.

Today the new Main entrance to the School is from the new rear gate adjoining to the temple and a badly maintained sacred place forms a very poor impression.

We approached Army Headquarters who have now given us permission to renovate the interior without any new addition and make the complex to “A SARVA DHARMA STHAL” representing all religion and faiths showcasing the modern integrated harmonious and secular India.

We have already marshaled some resources and started the work. The major works are

1) repairing the sanctum sanctorum

2) tiling the same and altar

3) re-surfacing the complete flooring for laying vitrified tiles

4) re-laying and re-constructions of the complete courtyard

5) electrification

6) fitting windows for all the open side areas

7) installing high class framed prints of Jesus Christ, the Golden Temple, The holy Kaaba at Mecca, The Parsi Fire Temple etc. etc.

The project is expected around Rs.1.5 lakhs of which Rs.50,000/- has been collected and work initiated. I write to request one and all Georgians to contribute their best for this very noble cause and help the Committee to make the SARVA DHARMA STHAL an outstanding example of the religious harmony in Bangalore. Cheques and DD may be sent in favour of “GEORGIAN ASSOCIATION MILITARY SCHOOL BANGALORE” .

With warm regards and best wishes.

APPEAL FOR DONATIONS AND SOUVENIER ADVERTISEMENT COLLECTIONS FROM GEORGIANS AND PUBLIC

GENTLEMEN AND GEORGIANS.

The Primary aim of the OBA is to foster friendship and brotherwood among GEORGIANS. however, we can hardly forget our alma mater, our dear school which has done so much for us, aptly by encouraging the current cadets who are the future leaders and georgians.

We also know that there are shortcomings in system and the OBA over the last two years has been addressed in various forums, to be as supportive as possible in areas over and above the normal curriculam and training.

This has been addressed successfully in 2008-2009 by organising special Training courses for UPSC and SSB, Professional Training by experts in the field of Soft skills,Personality Developement, Interview managements and specially in Spoken English. Academically brilliant cadets are being encouraged to the outstanding in their field of interest with special Training. All this ofcourse with the complete co-operation of the school authorities and on need be basis.

Thanks to many changes in the “M.O.D” (DEFENCE) and its POLICIES.The school is getting enough in terms of Infrastructure fund. The school mess has been upgraded to Officers standard and our cadets have high quality food and Clothing.

The education Infrastructure in the school has gone high tech with inter active Plasma screens ,IT Technology and Latest Software is being incorporated for Teaching purposes.

Our supportive Programmes was kick started last year and put into Top gear this year by the batch of 1977, who readily contributed Rs.1 Lakh for this year Training of the 11th Standard for the 12th Our old boy MAJ GEN RPRC NAIDU,A senior educator is doing it voluntarily along with a senior colleague.

All these monies that are collected as donation and for souvier advertisements have been put into long term fixed deposits. The current interest earned is about Rs.90,000/- against the requirement of Rs.1 Lakh 20 thousand for administration only.

Please note the Corpus of Rs.9 Lakh cannot be broken as they are in high yielding deposits of 11% of over 5 Years.

The intention is to maintain 15 Lakh to 20 Lakh as Corpus funds and only utilise its interest for the administration of the OBA and for helping our cadets with various activities as desired by them.

Towards this MAY i request you to kindly join this effort, and contribute to the good cause in the Spirit of "freely you have received, freely shall you give".

The Silver jubilee batch of 1984 has greately encouraged the “CORPUS BUILDING” efforts during OBA 2009 with the contribution of 2.5 Lakh. They deliberated thorouhly, inter acted with all concerned and convenced themselves before making this magificient efforts in hardly 3 days time.

Our hats off “ TO THIS MAGNIFICIENT BATCH OF 1984”.

It would be ideal if this is a batchwise efforts or at least groups of individuals getting together spreading the word and donating generiously and also encouraging Ex-Georgians to enrol themselves in the OBA.

Many thanks in Advanced to you all and with my warm regards,

PERPRO THE GEORGIAN ASSOCIATION

Personal Donations Appeal

Dear Georgians,

Your Association has largely been funded by donations and advertisement revenue.  Great changes in the School infrastructure has been brought about by Senior Georgians who are in a position to direct policies and funds for the school’s requirement.  To our prestige we have very senior officers posted in the Ministry to carry on the good work.

However, there is a paucity of funds for non-budgetable expenditure like additional training for cadets in English, preparing for competitive exams adventure sports and sundry day to day expenditure.

We are all aware that all over India there are specialist organizations, drilling / grilling children to top various competitive exams especially the UPSC and NDA.  While our boys certainly better at physicals in the SSB, they lack skills in the presentation, interviews and especially English Language, diction and speech skills.

We are all aware that in the last few years most boys leave the school after the X Std to get better training out side in their XI and XII to qualify for the various competitive exams.

This would not be happening if the parents were sure that their wards were getting much better attention at the School, than what they can provide.

There is also the need to build a corpus to ensure sufficient funds from Bank Interest so the yearly budget of the OBA can be met without continuously sourcing donations.

It has been a tradition for all Senior and Junior Georgians to contribute their mite for the good cause.  Names are published in the magazine and individuals donate a minimum of Rs.1000/- of course without any upper limit.

May I kindly request you all to once again show this magnanimous gesture this year and kindly send in your contributions by demand draft / cheques (preferably at par) in favour of ‘GEORGIAN ASSOCIATION MILITARY SCHOOL BANGALORE” .  You are welcome to contact us by mail or any Committee Member for any help and suggestions.
