OBA PAST EVENTS

INTERSCHOOL DEBATE COMPETITION
The OBA conducted the Annual Interschool Debate competition for the Bhatia Shield on 6th August 2011. Lt Gen. S.S. Dahiya 789, MBH, was the Chief Guest.
The competition has become one of the sought after events in the calendar of Bangalore schools. Twelve of the best schools of Bangalore took part in the debate. The topic was “The Blind Pursuit of IT is creating a unidimensional Society” . The standard of debating was of a high order, and the participants enthralled the audience with their interesting points, flawless delivery and keen repartee.
Army Public School won the Bhatia Shield for 2011, dethroning National Public School Indiranagar. The individual prize winners were:

First Prize: Ms. Krshna Prashant, NPS Indiranagar
Second Prize : Mr. Tushar Giri, Army Public School
Third Prize : Mr. Ankur Biswas, Bishop Cotton Boys School

As has become the custom, the Judges were members of Toastmasters International, led by the irrepressible Dr. Ushy Mohandas. She regaled the audience with a thought-provoking and humorous feedback on the competition.
Gen. Dahiya, in his speech, spoke from the heart and remembered how Mr. V.S.Bhatia, the then Principal in selected a young boy from Pilani, who could not speak even a few words of English, and how the school honed him thereafter into a confident and able young man. He remembered with gratitude, guiding spirits like Mr. C.R.Mitchell, Mr. Mathu, and of course Mr. V.S.Bhatia.
As in the past several years, the event was sponsored by Bhuvan Bhatia, (1009, RH) . The Association expresses its gratitude to Bhuvan for his generous gesture.
Later in the evening, about 50 Georgians, some accompanied by their wives, got together for cocktails and dinner.
